Shooting and cleaning patch holder
« on: May 19, 2025, 07:23:34 PM »
I bought one of those old aluminum worm boxes for fisherman.  I sealed up the holes in the bottom with aluminum tape.  I used it to hold my moose milk patches on a trail walk.  Not very HC but I doubt moose milk is either.  It worked really well.  It was extremely handy and the patches did not dry out.  If you put it on your belt with the lid up it stays just fine.  There is not need for the bent metal thing that holds the lid shut or the swivel action.  The lid is spring loaded already. I did substitute a weaker lid spring.

The older, flat Altoids[ tins work too; i.e., once you burn the paint off.  Throwing them in your BBQ works for the paint and aging.  Credit Stumpkiller on the ML Forum for the idea.

What I like about it was that I did not need to dig in my pouch for a container of patches, then open it, then put it back.  The patches are right there, no fuss.  I keep the balls in a pocket in the pouch.
