Seeking info on VA maker George Peterman (George John Peterman)

All of the Whiskers books barely mention Peterman.  Actually some do not mention him at all. He was born in 1775 in York PA and died in 1854 in Botetourt County VA.  It appears he worked his entire life in Botetourt.  I spent some time today in the courthouse and there is copies of his will and the inventory of his estate but have not yet looked at the total details.  If anyone has a source they can refer me to and/or has photos of his signed or attributed work I would appreciate it.  Also, Peterman's father was Daniel Peterman.  Might he have been a gunsmith in PA?  York, specifically??  That would be a nice discovery.

There is a signed George Peterman and one that's attributed to him in the Kentucky Rifle Foundation's photo flash drive Issue XXI, "The Longrifle in Virginia".

Thank You!  I have the CD version but it may not be the latest.  I do recall one being there now that you mentioned it.  I'm toying with a short article for the local paper.  What would be necessary to get permission to use that photo IF I actually finish the project?  BIG IF!!

Just checked.  I have Vol 1, Issue V on a CD.  Guess the new flash drive version is available through the KRA/KFA website?

Arrived yesterday.  That is an excellent group of guns.  I really did not get that it was those in the show at Abingdon a few year back.  I was there but this flash drive is actually better that being there.

Glad you liked it. Having a professional photographer with good lighting and access to all sides of the gun makes a big difference!
