WTB German percussion rifle
« on: May 29, 2025, 05:56:16 AM »
I’m looking to buy a German percussion rifle in original condition for hunting. No target rifles. Preferably a 50 or 54 cal.
Price not over $2,500.

I have a 62 cal English sporting rifle that I built that could be considered in a trade.

Hello,
I saw your ad and wanted to check in with you.  You mentioned wanting a hunting, not target rifle.  What I have is likely a target rifle, but depending on your specs this may or may not be in the ballpark.

The maker on the barrel and lock is Pirko Caroly of Betspen.  My best guess is that it dates from mid 19th C.  It's .54 cal, 24" swamped twist oct barrel and weighs in about 5 1/2 lbs.  Overall it's in really nice condition and with only one outing to test it out, it has really good potential for being an accurate shooter.

I've attached some images.  If you have any interest I can send additional and provide more info.  I've acquired way too much of late and need to thin out the collection.  I'm wanting 1,800 for it and not interested in trades.

Thanks,
Gary

That is very pretty and certainly looks more like a hunting rifle to me.
