A great Reenactment weekend
« on: June 16, 2025, 06:59:59 PM »
This was one of the nicest venues for reenactment I can remember. 2nd and 6th North Carolina Regts at Southern Pines, NC at the Weymouth Center for the Arts and Humanities. Beautiful setting and unmatched hospitality. What a fine Fathers Day weekend 🙂

Got to click the links to view the pictures apparently.

The pictures won't show for me. All I get is the revolving wheel of doom.
Now that's weird, second time through, hours later and they all showed almost immediately.
Good times.

Yes, well kept up. Makes me wonder how those people ( back in the day ) mowed the grass.  :-\

They called rentagoat for lawn services ;D.That IS a good question when looked at seriously.Slave labor???if so with what tools?
I remember as a preschooler in Northern Illinois that my father had a gas powered mower and this was probably 1940 or a little
earlier.I can't remember what I had for breakfast but can remember something from 85 years ago.
That IS a beautiful area and what was being reenacted?

The venue was an estate that is now a non-profit center- They treated us so well with food and refreshments. Our task was to display camp life and preform musket and cannon drills, which was followed by live fire. The public were fascinated! They also had face painting and feather-quill calligraphy, games and music for the kids as well as some Native American programs. The Carriage House was ours to use (with complimentary food and beverages, and Air Conditioning!).
This was possibly the nicest venue for a living history event I have ever attended!
