Louie Ray Parker

I have Colonial style flintlock pistol  signed, 36  cal. .
I believe he was located in St. Louis. MO.

Louie Parker was a master builder. His Hawken rifles were considered among the best re-creations ever built. His Creamer rifle was exquisite. If this is the same guy he was from Missouri but not STL.

As Rich said Louie was a master builder and restorer. He lived in Jackson Mo. Which pistol do you have? I would love to see pictures of it.

Louie Parker was an outstanding builder, you are lucky to have one of his guns.

Some of his guns were on display at the Hawken show.

His work was very special.

Here's the pistol Carney was referring to:

Unmarked, reused barrel is 7/8" x 10".  Just rebored by Bobby Hoyt to 45 cal (the bore was rusty beyond use), 1:20 rate of twist, radius groove rifling.  16 1/2" overall length, 2lb 9oz.  Small Siler flintlock lock.  Curly maple stock.  German silver side decorations.   Relief carving behind the tang.  Built in 1973 according to Louie.

Louie was one of the very best contemporary builders I have ever had the chance of knowing. I remember looking at the Creamer rifle while it was in the white when Louie came to my show in Alabama. We were all setting around in Bob Melancon's room telling gun and war stories and Louie had the rifle there and I had the opportunity to look at it. It was an absolute materpiece of workmanship.

The pistol here looks like it may have been some of Louie's earlier work but you can still see the quality of his workmanship. I can still see his little sly grin and the twinkle in his eyes.

He is missed

For many years I would stop in Glorieta NM and visit with Jim Gordon at his museum and he would always bring up Louie Parker and mention how highly he thought of him.
