New book, and I would add, a good one...Black Powder Long Arms & Pistols: Reproductions & Replicas. Written by Dennis Adler and published by Blue Book Publications, Minneapolis.
Nice color and background on European manufacturers of popularly owned muzzleloaders as well as presentations from some of America's premier builders, complete with stimulating centerfold of a Jud Brennan gun. Downright romantic.
My only criticism would be that they missed some great makers and product, such as my good friend Allan Martin; his name appears in the text as an authority, but they failed to get a specimen or two of his in there. Just an example of details that should be included in the second edition.
Incidentally, just took my little brother (just retired) up to meet Martin last week. Of him , my brother remarked, "Ya' know, he's one of the nicest guys I've met recently." I told him he was a good judge of chartacter. wayne
