Antique Flintlock Longrifle

Any ideas on this one? I bought it on a whim in an auction at the KRA. It was noted as possibly by R. M. Patterson of Fairmont, West Virginia. Its obviously had some work done on it including replacement parts.

The patchbox lid engraving with that central star made of many small cuts, the shape of the side leaves, and the single trigger suggest central/western New York to me.
