Atchison Hawken set trigger - Hawken shop faux trigger

This is the Hawken Shops Atchison Hawken single set trigger. Greg couldn't tell me if it is supposed to be able to be used unset (double action) or if it can only be used set, or as single action set trigger. I didn't think they were when I bought it, but the internals are a direct copy of the Atchison I think.

Thoughts?

It seems like maybe it could be used unset, but not sure. It might just depend on sear bar location. But it would help to know what the intent of the design is.

There's no return spring, so the trigger is floppy when unset

I'm not sure I'll use this , definitely won't if it's a single action. However, it is nicely out together. The only problem is the trigger plate is nearly straight. It's going to take a lot of bending to fit it to a Hawken stock.

The Atchison trigger plate is about as thin, just not as long. Less wood to remove!

No wories on the single trigger, it fires set or unset. The trigger bar just needs bending just ahead of the trigger pivot nothing forward to be an issue past the trigger pivot, easy peasy

Thanks! I took a second look and was thinking that it likely can be used set or unset and might just be a little more critical to position relative to sear bar.

Yes the bending should be pretty easy. I'm glad it's a bit thinner plate

They are one of yours. I picked them up from Rich. They're mighty nice.

These two are very comparable. Only slightly thinner in the rear and a bit thinner in middle.

My Hawken trigger bars are made from 1018 that is 1/4"thick and 1/2"wide and more than thick enough to use an 8 or 10x32 thread.

IF the single set trigger is under spring pressure all the way up then it will prevent the lock from catching full cock and will have to be set before cocking it.My double set triggers rear trigger can be given free play by CAREFULLY shortening the contact area at the end of the spring and the release blade on the front trigger can be ground to a taper so it won't interfere when the triggers are being  "set".
My triggers are case hardened and as long as the latching areas are not altered or ground they should be good for a long time.
