a couple of pocket horns
« on: July 20, 2025, 10:36:10 PM »
Here are a couple of pocket horns I made a while back.
Light one is 7". Dark one is 6".
Butt plugs are softwood. Spout plugs are unknown scrap. Some sort of oak, I think. Pins are wooden. Strings are yucca fiber from a plant on my place.

Glad you like them. I figured since I was offering advice, I probably ought to post a little something of my own.   :)
Here's another one. Sold this one on TOTW. Salt horn, about 4" long, as I remember. Spout plug of maple. Also had a natural fiber string, but I can't remember now if it was yucca or what it was.

I really like the look of your horns. They have that glassy/melted wax/marble/ice cube just beginning to melt a little look and texture you see commonly on originals. Really cool work! Thank you for showing.

Nifty!!
More about the "yucca" fiber string would be a bonus!  ;D
