Civilian Copy of Springfield Type II Model 1795
« on: August 01, 2025, 07:57:19 PM »
From what I have been able to find, I believe this is a civilian copy of a .69 Type II 1795 Springfield Musket. Possibly made for a militia unit or individual member. Metal has an overall brown patina, with some scattered pitting on tang and buttplate. The lock has the letters JJ on the after part. Illegible markings on inside face. The stock is in overall good antique condition, with expected dings and scratches. A 3" crack on right side between front and middle barrel bands. Bore is dark and pitted. Might scrub better and be fine for light loads. The 45" barrel mics at. 710. LOP is 12 5/8". Gun weighs almost 9.6 lbs. Nice antique civilian military model musket. $1100 + SHIPPING.
