Don Kammerer .36 Southern Mountain Rifle
« on: August 07, 2025, 11:46:04 PM »
While not marked as such, the paperwork that came with this .36 SMR says it was built the late Don Kammerer of Indiana. I read that Mr. Kammerer built the prototype for the CVA Mountain Rifle.  Douglas barrel and Minton lock.  Handles real nice.

Does anyone know anything about Kammerer rifles? Did he sign them?

I have one that he did sign.

It is an SMR too. .45 cal, 42" barrel, Dixie Gun Works Ketland lock. Very front-end heavy. I have been thinking of contacting Bobby Hoyt for years to get the barrel refreshed and perhaps turn into a .50 cal.  Would probobly lighten it up a bit.

Please forgive me for the not so great pictures.
