R Banta- Maker...anyone have information on him?

Picked up a nice, custom built 1803 Harper's Ferry with R Banta- Maker on the barrel and lock. Was wondering if anyone might have some information on him, as internet searches have come up blank

I don't know what sort of response you were hoping for, but it looks to me like Habu may have already answered your question. He also suggests that "Waksupi" may have more info. You can send "Waksupi" a PM through this page if you want:

That page is found through the list of members, which is in the menu list on the top of the page.

As for deleting the thread, that's up to you. You don't need a moderator to do that. You just need to click on the "remove" button on the top right of your first post. But if it were me, I'd leave it up for a while. It's been up less than 3 full days.
