David (?) Bailey Hawken

Looking for information on a builder named David Bailey. I have a .62 Hawken style rifle with Colerain barrel and Davis Lock. Pretty sure name stamped on top flat is DAVID BAILEY, but scope mount screws partially obliterated name. I did find an ornate longrifle built by Bailey in 1977 on an old auction listing. Any help appreciated.

Bigger question, what kind of dummy would do that to that rifle? I'd be worried the very same kind of dummy drilled those holes too deep

The aforementioned dummy (whoever that was) did not drill too deep. Professional work. Rifle now getting ready for some serious blasting.

It;s a new gun with Hawken profile and NOT a valuable relic so a scope mount does no harm.I know several guys that would not hesitate to put a Telescope sight on anything if the old sights were no benefit. Our oldest son needed glasses by the time he was 4 years old and so did my wife.I got my first glasses at 75 years of age.

Just seems a little blasphemous to me is all. Especially the screw though the builders name. Might a went in a different direction, various lengths of picatinny rails are available, spreading the holes abit.
