I know they were in business in the 1970s and I found an ad listing reproductions of Charleville's, M61 and M63 Springfield's and Maynard carbine's.  Does anyone have actual experience with their products?

Harpers Ferry Arms Co.
256 E. Broadway
Hopewell, VA 23860

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure they were still in business in the early 1990's.  Someone over on the N-SSA forums has probably had experience with their products.

Thanks for the lead.  According the N-SSA posts Harpers Ferry Arms Company was dispersed in 1978 after one of the owners absconded with the companies liquid assets.  My Charleville was made in 1976 for the bicentennial. It looks like the company only existed for a couple years.

There is a sutler that sets up at Nationals in Winchester and calls himself Harpers Ferry Arms. I don't know if this is the same company or person or not but he is still active. He is getting along in age though.

No connection at all.

My wife has a Harpers Ferry Maynard that was assembled from parts left over from the original company.  While it's not up to the quality of an original I see nothing wrong with it.  I have a Charleyville that I bought as a "kit" which also came from left over inventory.  A 2 piece walnut stock and a Numrich shotgun barrel which, I understand, has a very long breech piece fitted to make it the correct length.  The lock required a lot of work to be acceptable.  I have never seen a HF 61 or 63 and I've been skirmishing for 40 years.  All of the parts left over were sold off long ago.

"One of the owners" had somewhat questionable moral standards and received a free vacation at a Federal hotel on charges unrelated to firearms.  All of the firearms assembled by HF or others after were assembled from legally obtained inventory so there is no issue there.
