Simple lil' squirrel killer
« on: October 21, 2025, 03:43:13 PM »
Here is a squirrel rifle I just finished.
Its got a 44" Rice Dickert profile in .36
Chambers Dale Johnson lock
Soft piece of ugly maple I got for free
First time making a patchbox.
I started it Sept 20 and finished it Oct 16.
I drive semi full time but start early in the mornings so Ive had a lot of afternoons to make progress. I got 3 guns built since February.  I think it's time to take a break and focus on other things until next spring.

Someone told me it looks like a hint of Allen's.  I said we'll I pester him enough and listen to what he says and then try to apply it...so I'll take that as a compliment!
Thanks for looking.

Great flow through the wrist, strong but sleek architecture. I can see the influence! You’re on a roll - don’t slow down now! ;D

Thanks I don't know what to call it really.
I looked at this rifle for an idea of lines.

Looks great, I really like that long extended wrist, the proportions are just right.

I really like the lines of that rifle! I don’t think I could finish one that fast if I was retired full-time.
Hopefully you live where you are surrounded by big fat squirrels!

That is a very fine looking rifle.  It has an artistic aspect that I use the word "charm" to describe.  I like simplistic beauty.

With a piece of “ugly maple” you’ve created a beautiful longrifle. It’s lovely (that squirrel probably won’t agree though).

Beautiful rifle. It would be a treat toting it around the squirrel woods. Excellent work.
