Kibler - quick sale rifle kit - with repaired crack (?)
« on: November 18, 2025, 09:26:06 PM »
I picked up a Kibler Woodsrunner from a guy who said he got it as a "available now" item from Kibler.   There is an area on both sides of the forearm just forward of the rear entry thimble that cracked and was epoxied.

The guy said it came from Kibler like this.  Does this sound right?   If so, does anyone know what Jim's team uses as far as epoxy?   The repair seems stable, though I wish they would have clamped it a bit tighter while the epoxy set up.  The left side crack has a noticeable edge.

(Yes, the rear sight is backward in the photo... that has since been remedied).

If it was easy, everyone would do it.

Bones 92,
It would be best if you contacted Kibler's company directly to ask about this. He's the only one who can answer this question for you.

It is true that he sells some seconds. Contact him to ask about the condition of that sort of item at point of sale.

It seems like I saw a post awhile back where was a guy was selling a Kibler rifle , in the process of assembly he dropped the stock and broke it, then he epoxied it together. He sold it as is, at least I think he sold it.
This looks very much like the same one.
I highly doubt that Kiblers did this kind of repair job!

I agree. I think we can safely say that Kibler didn't go anywhere near that repair.

Nope, that's not our repair!  You can even see where he slathered epoxy on the side of the barrel after coloring.

I bought a SMR kit from a guy that was cracked in the same way, he didn't mention the crack in the description. The barrel inlet fit was VERY tight, I suspect he didn't know how to properly remove the barrel and had grabbed the front of the barrel and the forestock above the entry pipe and gave it a hard pull.

The crack was almost 3" long, being primarily a bow maker I know how to fix cracked wood, I used superglue and my fingers to hold the crack closed and aligned while the glue set. After I fixed the crack I soaked the wood on the inside of the barrel inlet at the crack with as much superglue as it would absorb, superglue soaked wood turns into concrete. This crack will never open up again.

After I draw filed the barrel the fit to the inlet was perfect.

The fixed crack starts at the barrel just above the pin and angles down to the left. I bought the kit for $800 shipped, at that price the crack was non-issue for me.

Thanks, Jim.   Out of curiosity... what would a replacement stock cost?   This one is at least a couple years old and has the swamped GM barrel (.45).

Give Bree a call at 330-551-5844 and she'll be able to help you out.  We might have a second stock with some non-structural imperfection which could save you a few bucks as well.  She'll be able to help you with all of this.

Thanks

Thanks, Jim.  I'll call her.    My only concern is this being a GM barrel, and I think the Woodsrunners now use Rice barrels, so the contour of the inletting might be an issue.  (unless the barrel profile was kept the same between GM and Rice)

If it was easy, everyone would do it.

All barrels for the WR are contoured by kibler. It matters not who made the brl. 👍

Yes,  the only thing we don’t do is produce the bore.
