Willow back rest
« on: December 15, 2025, 08:55:23 PM »
Does anyone make willow back rests anymore? I have one that must be 40 years old from my teepee days, and someone wants to buy it. No idea what they might sell for these days, but it is used and needs restringing on one side.
Any ideas?

It has been a few years, but the most-recent one I made was ~30" tapering to ~24" and about 5' long.  It sold for ~$250 (enough, at the time, to buy a Chambers lock and a few flints).  Used but serviceable generally go for ~$100-125 depending on condition.

Taylor made a few of those for his TeePee, along with the tripod rear supports. This has got to be close to 45 years ago.
He sold the TeePee some years ago as well. I suspect the willow backrests went with the lodge. Thanks for bringing back
those memories. A duck hunt, -20 - sitting in the lodge, stripped down to gonchies, it was so hot in the lodge, sipping on
schnapps. Maple stock trimmings fire, 12" high of glowing coals.

My brother in law and a friend must have made and sold about 40-50 of them in the early 80s! They were pretty comfortable when we were much younger. Harder to get up and down off the ground now.

Sold for $30 + shipping!

This probably doesn't help much but I sold a pair in the early 90s with their tripods for $200.

Until recently, Crazy Crow sold them for around $100.
