That rifle shines Hanshi, really shines!!! I still think the 45 is the perfect all around caliber and the most accurate.

Crawdad, I've owned more rifles in .45 than all others combined.  I currently have three .45s and none of my other bore sizes have duplicates.  So, I find myself in agreement with you on that.  The majority of my deer kills were made with one .45 or another.

Here in Western Canada, a 'squirrel rifle' cannot be over .40 calibre.

A .311 ball ought to slide down that bore right easy. What do you use for patching?

Forget the pillow ticking - probably an actual pillow for patching.  ;D

Wooden blocks designed to fall away from the "shot" after leaving the barrel.

I think Taylor meant at Hefley Creek Rendezvous, where there is a squirrel rifle match put on by our good friends from Washington, Kevin, Boyd, etc. these fellows have been putting on that match since 2006 IIRC.

Joe Schell has finished my new squirrel rifle. I am waiting on it to arrive I hope this week.
He has posted pictures of it on his blog.  It is the 32 caliber with a 46 inch A weight barrel from Rice.
Dale Johnson, Chambers Lock with Davis triggers.  Iron mounted hardware.  Should make a dandy squirrel rifle.
You can see it at this link.  https://joeschell.blogspot.com/

I am currently building my squirrel rifle. It has a .36 cal. square bottomed rifleing barrel from rice and a semi- Lancaster type stock from Pecatonica. Its coming together nicely and will be finished soon.

Got my rifle in the mail today.  It sure does handle good.  Slim, light weight and holds as good as any rifle I own.  Will take it to the range and give it a work out in a few days.  Joe did a great job on the iron work and patch box. He did a great job on all of the rifle.

Taylor an to all the rest. Never get bored looking at fine(very fine) squirrel rifles. Wattlebuster love those iron mounted rifles to. Especially those shoddy-daiseys!

Finally was able to take my new Tennessee squirrel rifle out for a walk. The critters weren't moving much, but I spotted this one on the way back. The little 30 cal. with a light load works fine. Got another with my longbow a little later, and had some tender, juicy barbecue for lunch.

Thank you Daryl. You've come a long way since this discussion started. From guest to super hero! I love the looks of the rifle (full stocked southern) that you posted on page 1. That and the rifle Mr. Ladd showed us make my heart go pitter patter. Who made them?

S. Pizza - Are you inquiring about the rifle just a few posts up, or the rifle I posted on the previous page?

If its the one just above, I was just posting those pictures to show the Joe Schell rifle built for iloco.

If you're asking about the one a page back from here, that's a 36 caliber squirrel rifle that gunmaker (Tom Knight) here on the forum built for me.

I like them both but the Schell rifle just speaks to me. I love the lines, the color, patch box. I admire all types of rifles but the Southern or Appalacian rifles are my favorite. There's something honest about them. Like a pretty woman without make up. If you know what I mean.

LOL - I've actually been around here for "some" time, Squirrel pizza - years in fact.  The staining on your rifle - superbly bringing out the grain  - lovely indeed.
