Do a search under gun chests and see what comes up.  I know Tim Crosby had pictures of a couple of them and looked great.

Thanks, I do not have any plans I just make them up as I go along but if I can be of any help just ask. Here is another style chest that would only have to be lengthened and have a drawer put in. You could also put tall legs on it and make kind of a sideboard.

Tim......I know, this coffee may not be working this morning, but I have looked at the chests, really nice by the way, but
I haven't been able to figure out what the little round "plug" with the leather thong is for?   Hopefully it isn't a drain?
Also, have you ever looked at the fancy one that Mark Silver made?.........Don

Thanks Don. That "plug" is one of the drawer locking pins. lts a piece of horn I turned and inserted a piece of pianio wire about 3" long in it. With the drawer pushed all the way in I drilled down through the bottom into the runner on the drawer. Slide the pins, one on each side, in and the drawer cannot be opened. Lock the top and all is secure.
Yes, I have seen the one Mark did, well done and nice looking.

Wow, great chests all !!

Since they look like furniture and not like gun cabinets, may I suggest they would add a layer of security to the storage of the long rifles as well?  Crooks would probably pass right by them.

After 26 years of locking myself and armories up, I think about these things.
