Hi Blackpowder Friends!
Rolf and I got 2 smoothbore barrels from Charles Burton, one Cal 58" for Rolf and a Cal 40" for me :) The barrels are very nice, and now my subteenager friend Alf Jostein and me have rifle the cal 40. Rifling is fun if you have a subteenager as power hehe ;) We find the small caliber more diffiqult than bigger, and some problem there was. But the end result was not bad the rifle depth is ca 005". I think I will build a East Tennessee Squirrel Rifle like Bookie says :) barrel lenght is 44"

Alf Jostein stiring, hmmmm ok he think ;)

And me stiring hmmm ok me think ;)

Neat little hole in that barrel, runastav. Give my regards to Alf. A man with a decent momentum for pulling those grooves ;-)

Well done, Runar and Rolf. the rifling in the .58 looks to me to be about .010".  Nice and sharp, grooves slightly wide than the lands.

I have a question....will ALL barrels be the same twist because of the twist on the machine??? so a 54 would have the same twist as a 45, or 35cal???? would that make a difference in shooting???

I see you are using your wife's toothbrush to clean the cutter.  Does she object or have you told her yet?

Hei Runar!  The teeth in that barrel look as if they could take a bite right out of your leg (or higher up).  Excellent work you've done again and the rifling bench looks like it's wearing in well.  The sub-teenager for power is the only way to go.  You do need to visit Toad Hall like Tim suggests.  Come when he is here and we'll hammer some barrels together.
