Ron, I would rate that at about 90+ on the 1 - 10 scale. Fascinating and fantastic art work, a true master with a scrimshaw point.

Appreciate all the kind words...been on this thing for around a year give or take. It should have been a 6 to 8 month project for me but when covid hit I really had to become more active helping the kid with school work so it delayed it a little. Best Regards, - Aaron

Tim,..I work with Bill at times on horns...but the scrimshaw is all me. I've known Bill for around 10 years and he had already quit scrimshawing years before that. The horns come to my house for their ink.

Not sure about everyone else but I do my scrimshaw at the kitchen table. It's the best light in the house..after penciled and scribed it goes down stairs in my shop for inking. I work in sessions...may be a few hours/day..may be a 10 hours/ day breaking when I want to. I pretty much have a build log of in process pics for this one...here is some earlier ones ..and also a better pic of the backside..I had a guy wanting me to send him better pics of the Licking River area and some of what was around it. -Aaron

Wasn't sure who did it from the original post. That is the finest, as in high quality and fine as in delicate work I have ever seen. A piece of high art in the horners world. Beautiful piece.

Tim,..really appreciate that comment. I always try my best...but always much more to do. If some people like my style I'll call it a win...but I've got a lot of heroes in the 18th century art world...quite a few right here on this board. I'm going to try to make it to the CLA this year,..I'll swing by your table and say hello. -Aaron

Thank You Aaron.... I should have known as art and scrimshaw go hand in hand. Than is beautiful work and I appreciate the pictures. Hey Aaron: Nice work on your map horn! Do you use India ink? Have you tried your hand at scrimming in color? If you do use regular artist's oils or colored inks. anyway nice work! Hugh Toenjes
