Bill and Michael—I’ll make contact and see you at the show. We all have name tags, so I’ll find you, if I forget to give a buzz!

Dick, hope you can make it next year!

Best,
Allen

I will not make it this year, might go next year. Always enjoyed the trip even with the long drive.

It is quite an excellent show as usual.  The President's Display features John Armstrong, his apprentices, and some others that were influenced by Armstrong.  Art DeCamp gave a seminar on Armstrong along with a timeline.

I was there for a few hours. Presidents display was excellent. Unfortunately the attendance isn’t what it used to be. Good to see everyone who was there. There were a lot of Great Bedford rifles  - more than I’ve seen in the past.

It was great to be there, looked for some of our members, but didn’t seem to bump into any. The President’s Display was downright amazing. Well done John Armstrong, his apprentices, and the KRA for putting a great show together!

PS—cool to see a Benjamin Troutman rifle in person!

So nice to catch up with everyone. Missed those of you who couldn’t attend. I didn’t know there were so many great Armstrong rifles out there. Charlie had some great Western PA rifles I had not seen before. Bedford and Somerset Counties well represented. I hope attendance bounces back.

Jim,

It was, not sure if your other Armstrong was there - I saw three or four other Fowler’s by Armstrong as well. I was fortunate enough to walk through the display with Louie Parker, always enjoy watching him point out details that I manage to over look. It was a good time - unfortunately many of our mentors and good friends weren’t in attendance or no longer with us. Laura was there with the old man’s rifles - got to see the refrigerator gun in person for the first time - he still makes me laugh.

Buck, Thanks Noel. I miss the old man. Think of him often. I'm glad Laura is displaying his collection. If I remember right   there were forty some John Armstrong rifles known.  I bet it was impressive. Louie knows his Armstrong's . He even built one that  would make  John proud.  Jim

Jim,

I’ve seen the “Parker Armstrong”. If you had no knowledge of the build you’d never know, doesn’t matter how knowledgeable you are - Louie came 200 years too late.

Did Louie build one. too? I know that he restocked a 'restocked' Armstrong that came out of Southern Illinois some years back. I recall him saying that he stocked it in walnut so that it would not be taken for the original wood. Rest of gun though was solid gold.
Glad to hear that the show was a success. I know that I missed another winner. But, every time I have ever gone to it, I have the strongest desire to throw stones at my stuff when I get back home. Anybody else feel that way? Thanks to all of you for posting the great comments on the show and the displays. It tempers my disappointment a bit.

For those interested in the KRA's President display, the Kentucky Rifle Foundation did photograph the display of the twenty four rifles. A CD will be produced in the near future and is packed full of Armstrong's work. There were some fantastic rifles to see.
