Mathias Hoak
« on: May 24, 2025, 10:17:03 PM »
Has anyone on here ever come across a rifle by Mathias Hoak? I currently collect Jacob Hoak rifles and would be interested in finding rifles from Mathais or at least seeing one. I started this journey researching Jacob Hoak and who he might have apprenticed with. Mathias would be Jacob Hoak's uncle, but it seems like each line of the family uses the same names making things difficult to figure out. I was looking to find a link between Jacob and Issac Haines, now I come away wondering if he apprenticed with Mathias. Several of the Hoak family were gunsmiths and it would be interesting to find other rifles made by the family. I am not really patient or studious enough to be good at this type of research. If anyone has information on Mathias Hoak or examples of his work, I'd love to see it.
Thank You
John

This thread says one was on display at the Mac Spencer show in 2016.  Van ( VP ) might know or have photos.

Thank you. Too bad I missed it. That show was about two years before I started attending Mac's show regularly. Now, I never miss it and there are always great rifles there. I will reach out to Van and see if he has anything.
