I like the name you've given this rifle....ie: JK Hawken rifle. It is a fine tribute to the original design, and I think it incorporates the best features of early J & S Hawkens, and the later S. Hawken rifles. The fact that it is lighter by four pounds than my own Hawken build is a big plus. I watched the video carefully, studying all the nuances that make or break a Hawken rifle, such as the design and execution of the breech plug and standing breech tang, the position of the rear sight on the barrel, and the nice sculpting of the lock bolt inlay, the trigger plate finial, and the finial on the entry pipe. I like too the heel of the butt plate and the depth of the butt which adds much to the beauty and grace of the rifle. I too would like to see a photo of the inside of the lock. I like the half cock notch allows lots of clearance over the nipple for capping.
On the video rifle, there is a little black dot on the wood immediately above the forward end of the lock plate..worm hole, pin to reinforce an area prone to cracking...? Nicely done overall Jim!!
