From amazon in 50 pieces.
I’ve bought these and modified them to work in my flintlocks. 38 cents each and most will be usable. Just knock off the parts you don’t need. These are jasper from Morocco.

As in life; it’s the journey, not the destination. How you get there matters most.

Kibler's Longrifles sells India-made flints. They are ok for what they are, very inexpensive but not very consistent. Prices are going up because we do not have many domestic makers, and the best gunflints come from France and England. The gentlemen who makes them, has stated that tariffs have affected his prices, as he is being taxed on every shipment. If members here are nappers and do make domestic flints, I'd be happy to do business exclusively with y'all. Just ordered some flint from Track of the Wolf, 25 bucks for 6 English flints.

I just received some that I ordered from RE Davis company. They did not look like the pictures and out of a dozen flints Maybe six of them will be usable in my rifle.
Now, if I still had a tradition, Flintlock, I could probably use the other  six.

TOW sent me a notice saying they were back in stock, of course this was after I had already ordered the other ones.
I will have to look up those sellers here on the American long rifle website

so glad when a few years ago I had a little extra money and flints were $150-$1.75. I bought several hundred, enough to last me a lifetime (No I do not want to sell any). I did the same with GOEX3F when it was $16.00 a pound. Nothing in this sport is going down just look at what brass ammo costs.

International Military Antiques...IMA...sells genuine 18th and 19th Century flints from the Napal horde by the pound quite reasonably. Those I received looked quite good.

Hello, I think i found this ad on the big site. However I am new to what flints are and well I know many things spark but are these actually going to last?

Some of those will last longer than others. Like most every make of "flint", "some" will break or shatter 1st shot, most won't.
With English or French flints, this happens, but not often. With those cheap flints, likely more often, but they are considerably
cheaper than the $5.00 per flint some have to pay.

Obsidian is a bad choice for a gunflint and is common among cheap arrowheads.

I have a LOT of "doubts" about obsidian for a flint.
I cannot see it working for even one shot. Maybe, but again, doubts.

Obsidian is not known for being strong.  It is known for being pretty, translucent, and can
be extremely sharp. In some countries it is used on scalpels for eye surgery because it was
the sharpest thing known to man, although not approved in the USA. ::)  We would rather
use metal blades & maybe toss in some red dye on it for good measure.

Yes, I have heard of obsidian chips being used for eye surgery, due to the sharpness. Obsidian flakes on the molecular level, the sharpest 'thing' known to man (or so it is said).

This may not be the right place for my comments, but had sticker shock at the most recent powder purchase. Last time I bought powder it was outrageous at $38 a pound. This week I found it to be $59 a pound.is this inflation the result of tariffs? Jerry
