Frozen, you need to tin both the barrel and the rib, then use about 50 clamps to hold the rib in place while you heat it for the final time.
It is hot, and can be quite messy, with the flux melting and running. The rib can bend from the heat if you use too much of it (heat).
The other two methods are much neater and cleaner. As I said, the riveting is the most fun, making the little rivets, drilling the holes properly, seating the rivet in the hole, then heading it in/on the rib. 12-penny common nails make good rivets.
