Fancy Painted Flat Horn
« on: November 30, 2020, 08:43:02 PM »
It is about 9" around the outside curve not counting the stopper and 7 tip-to-tip. It is about
2 1/2 X 7/8ths at the base. The base us held in by four iron pins and covered with a Brass plate that is held by the Six Brass tacks. The tip is antler held with three iron pins. Carla did the amazing painting.

Another great collaboration.  I really like the metal on the butt.  Very cool contrast to the delicate painting by Carla.  I thought she was done painting horns.   ;-)   I guess someone convinced her to do just one more?   Super horn.  God Bless,  Marc

Wow, if that’s not just the cutest thing ever!  That would go great with a bag with some tole painting on the flap...

Very nice. Carla does amazing work. If I could just get Harriette to use hers instead of just admiring it and not letting me touch it for fear I’ll put a smudge on it I’d be in good shape.  ;)

The horn itself is pretty standard, Carla's art work is what makes it stand out. Thanks for the positive comments, I will pass them along.
Yes Mark that is one of the small horns you sent, really nice horn to start with, makes a Big difference.

It's funny how Pix show things, if you look closely where the tip meets the body there are some dark spots. Not sure what caused them but I didn't notice them until I looked at the pix again. A little paint and they're gone.

I always see things in photos that I don't see with the naked eye in normal light.   My good photos with flash seem to always show all the flaws in my work that you would never see in normal light.  Even sunlight doesn't show everything.  My customers always get a product that looks better than the photos and I have to think that is a good thing.

By the way, those are nice, well lit, photos.   I assume you don't have a professional flash setup.   How do you do it?

A complement like that coming from a professional photographer is good to hear. Actually I subscribe to the Bill Shipman school of photography, over cast day and a digital camera. The cameras are not much, a Cannon PowerShot A2300 HD and an older Cannon PowerShot A620. I use an editor for cropping and positioning but other than that they're pretty much how they come off the camera. Sometimes it takes 8 or 10 shots to get 3 or 4 good ones,

I figured that must be what you did.    As to a camera,  I use my iPhone most of the time.    Lighting is more important than the camera.

Tim, that horn needs a special stand to display it.  Like a plate holder.

This is where I get my display stands for horns.  You bend the arms to fit.

Thanks, Mark, somebody here was looking for stands like that, I didn't know they were available.
Can't remember who it was hopefully they will see this post.

Good idea Marc but it's going to a new home and I think it is going to be used.
