Flintlock Gobbler
« on: March 31, 2023, 09:18:58 PM »

Was finally able to call up a mature bird  and take him with my Fowler.
Definitely was worth the wait!

Brass barrel?

Looks like cold bluing rubbed back. The rear sight dovetail has a brass blank in it.

For those that haven't done it, that certainly puts the sport back into turkey hunting.  Congrats.

Congratulations! I got one opening day as well with my .40 flintlock. I was using a pot call made by a member here. As posted above, it certainly puts plenty of sport back into the hunt. Congrats again on taking a very nice bird.

Snowing like crazy here right now, but our season starts April 12 to the end of May (in week long blocks). On the plus side, I saw 3 gobblers wandering through the woods across the road today, one with a beard so long it was almost dragging in the snow.
