Jim Kibler built this for me starting with one of his fine kits. He hand picked a fine piece of wood, created a period correct patch box with my family name is period correct font and a toe plate. it is in 40 caliber. If you are looking for a Southern Mountain Rifle you just can't do better.

Well here's a rifle I just finished a couple weeks ago. It's a 40 Cal. Colerain "B" weight swamped barrel, Chambers Golden Age Lock. Nothin fancy just a good feelin/usin kinda rifle. Heck haven't even test fired it yet.....

Not a good pic, sorry.  But... its my .40 built with a Getz Transition barrel twisted 1:66.  Shoots a one hole group at 25-30 yards with 30 gr of 3fffg and  kills deer at darn near 100 yds with 90 gr of 3fffg.  This is a copy I built back around 1970, with some architecture flaws, of a family rifle built back around the Rev war period.

  My main "Go To" squirrel getter... Nothing as gorgeous as the other rifles in this thread... But deadly on the tree rats! Old CVA .32 kit "Squirrel" rifle...  Head and neck shots easily out to 30-35 yds. I load it with 23 gr. Goex FFF, does good for me!

To Bob Roller: If you could only see the rim rock canyons, rock strewn flats, and ridges I have packed this gorgeous Kibler rifle. I made the mistake of selling my "big .58" for deer and elk. Last year had to pack this little .40 on our muzzleloader only deer season. Can't wait for my new .54 Lowell Haarer matched set (rifle & pistol) to arrive. More suited for these conditions we have here in the west.

Pretty rifle....  I love the wood.  You are not the only ones effected by the borer.  Forestry guys down here in S. IL  are telling folks with a lot of ash to cut it now....  before the borer gets to it.  Naturally, that has caused a price drop....  go figure.

We had such an incredibly cold winter here in Iowa they figure it killed all the emerald ash borers...happy days!

Mike:  we did not have that kind of cold here and the forestry guys are saying they are still pretty much alive and well.....  Hope they are wrong.  I have a bunch of 12-22" stuff right here near the house.

The Ash is gone here. I talked to a forestry guy and he says they hope the bugs ate themselves out of house and home and that they will be gone when the seedlings come back.

I have several dead/dying ash trees on my place. We'll see what happens. I need some fire wood anyway.

Here in Maine I can't see how those bugs could have survived in the north and western part of the state.  Just hoping.  I live in the "tropical" SE part.

Wildlife scientists were tagging young moose and found, ready for this, 40,000 ticks on one.  I guess all were similarly afflicted.  It's a wonder any of them survive and most don't.

That is absolutely terrible...….  Just me talkin.....  I have heard how bad it was but that si beyond bad.
